The Hotel Muguet

When we travel, we like to stay in hotels that are clean, well located, but not too expensive. As a result, these hotels tend to be functional but not much more. The Hotel Muguet, in the 7th arrondissement is thus a pleasant surprise. It is the nicest hotel for the money that we have stayed at in Paris. If you are looking for a charming hotel in a good area, very clean and not too expensive, look no further than the Muguet.

Rue Chevert is a tiny street, tucked behind Avenue de la Motte Picquet. At number 11 stands the entrance to the Muguet. As you walk into the lobby of the hotel, you are struck by the handsome, wood-paneled reception area. Two poodles, one white and one black, are ensconced on the leather sofa nearby. A friendly, nicely dressed lady gives you your key, and you take the closet-sized elevator up to your floor. Here you will find a small, neat and immaculate room.

The Muguet is close to Invalides and is within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower. There are several metro stops close by, as well as a number of good restaurants. One of the nicest features of this hotel is that it is only steps from rue Cler , a cobble stoned market street that is partially closed to traffic. Here you can find all the delights of Paris- pâtisseries , chocolatiers , cafés , fromageries - nestled together over several blocks. A casual stroll along rue Cler can yield the makings of a picnic lunch: baguette , jambon , fromage . You can also buy a nice bottle of wine, or a box of chocolates to bring back home.

At our latest glance a double room was running around 97 euros per night, depending on the season. Petit déjeuner can be had for an additional fee, or you can have breakfast at one of the many nearby cafés. The 7th arrondissement is an excellent area of Paris, and is a good launch point for excursions throughout the city. If you want to stay at a nice hotel, and 97 euros is within your budget, then you must definitely stay at the hotel Muguet.
