| The Quartier Latin in Montreal, Canada is not a destination of monuments, but a destination of ambience. Strolling through the Carre St. Louis or looking for a restaurant on Rue St. Denis, you quickly become attuned to the laid-back charm of this part of the city. And when you see the beautiful old homes that surround the Carre St. Louis, you say to yourself - "I could live here". |

The Carre St. Louis in the Quartier Latin |
| With the Université Du Québec À Montréal at its center, the Quartier Latin is a student enclave much like its counterpart in Paris. The Rue St. Denis, the backbone of the quarter, has a definite European feel. Here you will find a range of restaurants and bars for every taste and budget, as well as nightclubs and other entertainment spots. |

On a recent trip we had dinner at a French restaurant on the Rue St. Denis. We sat on the outdoor terrace, enjoyed the warm summer evening and excellent food, and watched the endless stream of people strolling up and down the avenue.
Montréal is a very charming city, and part of its charm is the Quartier Latin. If you go in the summer, you may be able to catch the Juste Pour Rire (Just for Laughs) festival. This is an outdoor street fair that takes up much of the Rue St. Denis and adjacent side streets. For entertainment, people watching and good food, the Quartier Latin should be on your agenda for a trip to Montréal. |
